Singapore

That is the famous Raffles Hotel in Singapore.  Patt and I were here thirty nine years ago and while not staying there then- (still not) once again came by the self proclaimed Long Bar to have a drink- the Singapore Sling — this time the line was too long, (will try again tomorrow)(it is not to far from our hotel which on this visit has an in room bathroom and air conditioner —our hotel expectations have increased a bit since Peace Corps days)

Singapore is one huge city with some fancy tall buildings— and extremely modern and wealthy looking. This is a "trading- merchant city-state"

That hotel, yes hotel, built near the port and overlooking the ocean where the ships, seemingly hundreds of ships are waiting to come into the port has a garden, restaurant and pool and such on the top boat like structure. We went up at dusk and had dinner there. The evening photos did not turn out well.

but one looking back at the city did pretty well.  It was nice.

The city has multiple ethnic neighborhoods, with of course temples, mosques, busy streets and and all kinds of interesting activities. This is a mosque that we went into and was working hard at educating the public about Islam.

inside of the mosque and we are facing east — you are now oriented.

And in China Town was one of the more elegant Buddhist temples we have ever seen, the Buddha tooth relic temple, walls, of little buddhas, and big fancy buddhas, and while we were there they were setting up for a big occasion of some sort.

Just a parking garage, rather attractive for one you have to admit.  The garages, have electronic signs out front announcing how many spaces are available inside.

that of course is a street we enjoyed walking down, meeting more than one seller of goods that gave solid demonstration of the word persistent.
