Florence: with "art dripping off the walls"

Change is good and we sure have changed cities. Florence is very different from Rome. Smaller by multiples, several centuries younger, perhaps ten. So we start about 1000 AD. In one of the palaces or private homes we were touring, reference was made to the "new renovated chapel" done in 1011 AD (we were looking at the family alter, pew, paintings and such).

At any rate, sorry about the delay in blog, internet difficulties and this will be short. I have forgotten why I selected out these two paintings or even where they were from or whose they were. The city has racks, rows, risers, figuratively rivers and literally riches of paintings. The same is true for sculpture.

And churches, cathedrals, chapels - wealthy families built church after church to display that their church was bigger and more grand than the Jones family. Spoiler alert: the Medici family generally won these displays of wealth.  They had nephews who were  popes.

Some of our dear friends from America are also here. Patt is directly in front of me, Waldo is not here but Charles and Linda are in the crowd and if you look you can find them. Hint they are wearing black and brown — not Waldo red. Seriously the place is full of American English.

There are few unpainted surfaces on the inside of the buildings. Painters of yore were busy busy.
