Making friends and getting used to Medellin: mainly more grandchildren photos.

This is a title that will probably fit for a number of posts in the coming weeks for Stephen, Jen, Raleigh, Clinton and accompanying assorted associates.  They do not travel lightly despite moving with a few dozen suitcases nor do the tread lightly either.  Patt and I however will be on the road again in a few days and have many photos to share so off to the races.

One of the first days here, Patt and Kata were walking in a park with the boys when Raleigh introduced himself  to a grandmotherly looking woman.  When Raleigh speaks Spanish his already high voice gets a little higher, softer and somewhat sing songey - reportedly quite pleasant Spanish too.

Anyway, Raleigh was in rare form telling this woman all sorts of stuff about his family and Clinton, not to be outdone showed her his belly button.  We all have out talents, and Patt and I are proud of all our grandchildren.   This is also one of my favorite photos of the kids.

No not a new friend, but a hippo who put on a show for us.  It is our practice for one or the other of us to go with Kata with the boys on a morning outing until school / kindergarten gets started.  The other of us goes with Jen to a "office -rent-a-desk space"  to use internet, and in general accompany Jen.  Then home for lunch, rest time, nap for Clinton and then the afternoon and evening get wound up.

There is a very nice zoo in Medellin and Raleigh and I enjoyed it very much.  Nearly all the animals were like the hippos and very active.

Clinton, the first hour or so, not so much.  He cried to be picked up by Kata, but the instructions were for him to start walking and so he did, crying all the while, then suddenly stopped and he too started enjoying the zoo.  Crying the next day was for a shorter period of time.  Not out of the woods yet though on this prefer not to walk thing.

The zoo guy in the butterfly house when he found out I spoke "un poquito" Spanish and was from the US, really wanted to show us his butterflies.  Not only did we see a lot of them, we even got into the place where there were cocoons, caterpillars,  and butterflies getting ready for first flight.

The boys being sweet (and knowing it) while at a mall - for a morning outing.

And someone really likes to eat!  and goodness he does.  Some days using utensils and some days deciding to use his hands.  Whichever the tool of of choice, always choosing to be efficient and make as few as possible trips from plate to mouth.

Now his older brother, Raleigh, is pensive, slow, and if he gets his way is fed.  Even when it is KFC fries. And who knew KFC would be available in Medellin.  Hint- Everyone should, KFC seems to be EVERYWHERE.  Better to ask where it is not.

And somewhere we have a photo of his dad after the same meal that looks much like this.
