Recently I found some old color slides in a box as I was busy looking for something else - (ever done something like that before/). Well after spending a few minutes holding them up to a light bulb - not a very satisfactory viewing practice I might add, I selected a few to get digitized. So into the yesteryear we go.
This photo is one of Patt's and my favorites- we have had it printed and more than once I think. It is left to right Karen, Stephen, Julie and Laura. Playing school probably- though who thought who could read?, (double click the picture to enlarge the photo)-- I am thinking Stephen and Karen about one year old and a little bit to perhaps Laura, just turned three? Photo is set in the back room, later Stephen's bedroom, at our 513 Cole St house. That was one beautiful and large dogwood tree just out the window. This would be summer 1980.
This picture taken in my Mom and Dad's house in the playroom is of the "women in my life" a generation ago. I now have a different set of women in my life including a daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. And of course we have Mom, Granny, holding two (or so) month old Laura, and Patt. This would be summer 1977.And here we have another summer 1977 at our Jackson Street apartment, prior to moving to married student housing in King Village. Of course the stars of this picture are Patt and Laura trying out a baby back pack. Laura was a bit small for this as I recall - obvious huh ?, and we had to stuff towels around her to keep her in and in an upright position.
but you can see below she did enjoy being carried in this fashion, (or appreciated my humor). In the background you can see our 74 or 76 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and a right sporty one it was too.
I probably should have verified facts on this post with Patt prior to posting, -- so as to avoid perpetuation of legends. though a few good legends would perhaps be fitting.
More old photos to come.
Great photos - can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteI love them, and agree with Susan- I can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeletefun Dad! enjoyed it! Will show the kids when they are up this afternoon :)
ReplyDeletei think that top picture must be summer 1981, making me 4, Julie 3, Stephen 2 and Karen 18 months. No way is Karen only 6 months old, and I think Julie and my legs look way too long to be 3 and 2, we must be 4 and 3.
ReplyDeletewhat do others think??

ReplyDeleteJulianna: I had fun looking at your pictures from the blog. What are you doing in Raleigh? That picture of when baby mommy was smiling, I like that picture the most.
Lydia: I want to type my own name. I like the picture of mommy in the backpack when she is laughing. And my birthday is on the calendar we are already on.
