Seemed like a good idea at the time

that could be the title of many of my activities. That new, well now not so new front yard feature has been there going on half a year now it seems. It is a pile of mulch that tree guys make when they grind up trees. I thought it would be good stuff to have to put around bushes, in the compost pile with some leaves, and so on. I had done it years before - well it sits there and grows. No one moves it. A few wheelbarrow loads have made their way around a few shrubs in the back and a few have made their way to the compost pile but I cannot keep Patt on the job.

I move a little every now and then from the back side as you can see but basically it just will not go away. If you want any -- it does not seem to be going anywhere.

  1. For now, cover it with white material and tell the neighbors you just HAD to have some snow for Christmas. :) We will think of something else in the Spring.
    Merry Christmas!

PS - I left some books at your brother's in Graham for delivery to the Huffmans. (Patt had told EA she would be the delivery gal).
Have a wonderful trip. Don't get too close to the Huffman's they seem to have the yucky cold junk these days!

  3. What you need to do, in order to avoid the termites that Mark was worried about, is let the pile compost for awhile. Four, maybe five years should be enough. Then you will have some really good mulch, fine compost, do wonders for your plants. Also, get some pine straw to cover the pile, it will look better.
Glad to help with the advice.

  4. In the winter you have a small sledding hill for the grandkids! Summer, no clue what to do with it. Love Julie
